Chunch Chronicles: Take 1

I really should have been documenting the last 4 years of this...but every Wednesday a lot of people from my work cross the road to eat lunch with community members at a local church. It's called "church lunch" (or "chunch" if you'd like to save time) and it's completely nonreligious, minus the fact that it's a fundraiser for the church in which we eat. The food they serve there is creative, never-ending, yum-city, and cheap as it's only a $6 donation. Here was this week's spread -- vegetable beef soup unpictured as it was offensively oniony.

10 pounds of tots!

I swear this looked/tasted better in real life than it looks in this picture. Also my skin is STILL dirty from cleaning, peeling, and cutting 10 pounds of tots!

Mashed potatoes

No bread about it.

Not like this is a super healthy meal, but I'm experimenting with bread-less lunches. Just for kicks and giggles.

State fair turkey sandwiches, people! In my skyway!

That's right. The unthinkable has happened. My favorite item at the Minnesota State Fair is now sold IN MY SKYWAY AT WORK. So pretty much it's my birthday every day is what I have concluded.

@turkeytogo is so amazing.

Nina shares her lunch glory

Thanks to the supremely inventive Nina Graham for submitting her lunch photo this week! Here's what she has to say about this delicious feast:

This is the fanciest lunch I've ever deigned to munch. To our right we have a pear stuffed with cranberries, walnuts and bleu cheese and poached in sherry, apple cider and brown sugar on a bed of arugula, which has been tossed with lemon juice and olive oil. To our left we have an acorn squash stuffed with quinoia, sunflower seeds, currants, mushrooms and onions. On the other side of the camera we have a very happy and fulfilled belly.

My snack is better than yours.

So my lunch was average today, but holy man was my snack good.

And in case you are concerned about the amount of cheese I eat. Fear not. I'm from Wisconsin, so I can handle it, and furthermore I got my cholesterol checked at our health fair this week and I'm in tip top shape.

BOOM!

Naner, cheddar, cukes.
